Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (839–923 CE), commonly known as al-Tabari, was a highly esteemed Persian scholar, historian, and commentator of the Quran. Born in Amol, Iran, he is best known for his monumental work, "Tarikh al-Rusul wa al-Muluk" (History of the Prophets and Kings), commonly referred to as "al-Tabari's History." This extensive chronicle covers the history of the world from the creation to the year 915 CE, offering invaluable insights into various civilizations, cultures, and events. Al-Tabari was also renowned for his tafsir (exegesis) of the Quran, titled "Jami' al-Bayan fi Tafsir al-Quran," which remains a seminal work in Islamic scholarship.
