Al-Istakhri (or Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Farisi al-Istakhri) was a Persian geographer and traveler who lived during the 10th century. Little is known about his life, but he is renowned for his geographical work, "Kitab al-Masalik wa al-Mamalik" (Book of Roads and Kingdoms). In this work, Al-Istakhri provided detailed descriptions of various regions, cities, and cultures of the Islamic world, stretching from Spain to India. His writings were based on his own travels as well as information gathered from other travelers and sources. Al-Istakhri's work was influential in medieval Islamic geography and served as a valuable resource for later geographers and explorers.
