Yusuf ibn Basil and his friend Hashem make a plan to dismiss Qadi Suleiman by agreeing with someone who claims that Abbas ibn Firnas is a magician and bringing this to the Qadi. The Qadi brings all the parties together and presents the arguments for the innocence of Abbas ibn Firnas, saying he is a scholar. The Caliph testifies with Abbas.
