Iyas ibn Muawiyah judges fairly between an old man and a youth. The governor of the city is pleased with him. The Qadi judges between people and merchants with justice. The governor of the city dies and his son becomes the ruler, and has it in for Qadi Iyas. He asks him to help him in ripping off the merchants. Iyas refuses and the governor orders that he be isolated and flogged.
