Yusuf ibn Basil sends someone to kill Abbas ibn Firnas, but his servant Najm al-Din defends him. Stabbed in his place, he dies. The Caliph calls for the presence of Qadi Suleiman and Abbas ibn Firnas. Confronted with witnesses and the accusations of what he did, Yusuf finally confesses to his actions, and the Caliph has him imprisoned.
