Ibn Daqiq asks the governor that he be able to return to the judiciary with conditions, including dismissal of his deputy, and the governor refuses. The governor’s brothers are angry that he has not dismissed his deputy and they kill him. Then his older brother takes over and Ibn Daqiq is fair in his judgement.

Shurayh bin al-Harith goes to Medina and assumes the position of judge. Then a man comes and asks Shurayh to judge between him and Umar ibn al-Khattab. Shurayh rules in his favour, after which al-Faruq appoints him as a judge in Kufa.
