Shurayk bin Abdullah al-Nakha’i refuses to take charge of the judiciary in Kufa, then accepts after being pressured, and his friend Sufyan al-Thawri gets angry with him. A woman comes to him with a case against Prince Musa bin Isa, the cousin of the Commander of the Faithful, who took her orchard by force. Then Qadi Shurayk requests that the prince be brought for trial, but he refuses and sends the chief guard and orders his imprisonment.
